It is customary for tea to be served to the gathering attending the teachings, so it is worthwhile for you to carry your own cup. You will often notice that money is offered to monks and nuns. This is an offering to the spiritual community. Both the tea and offerings are paid for by contributions from patrons and the general public

1. For the 3-day 2011 Southeast Asia teaching at India (30 Aug - 1 Sept, 2011)

The tea/ bread offerings are part of the registration fees contributed by the participants.

Other than customary offering that the teaching is offering, there are opportunities before and during the teachings to make donations in the form of tea, lunch or dana offerings to the sangha (ordained monks and nuns). How much you give is entirely at your discretion.

If you would like to make additional contribution other than the registration fee, you may from now onwards, contact us for more merit making details

You may also make contribution during the teaching period:

  1. Proceed to HHDL office at Namgyal monastery, or any
  2. Donation booth that is setup near the teaching location
  3. Contact volunteers helping at the His Holiness The Dalai Lama SEA Teaching 2011

2. Tibetan Children Village Charity Drive

Every day, Tibetans are denied the space to develop and express their distinct culture and identity as such many Tibetans left Tibet to India. Tibetan Children's Village has today become a thriving, integrated educational community for destitute Tibetan children in exile, as well as for hundreds of those escaping from Tibet every year.

There are currently about 2200 students and 400 old folks under the care of TCV Ladakh. For many, education is considered a luxury. TCV Ladakh is one of the schools lacking such things as school stationery; warmth clothing or even English storybooks for their library. All these can deprive a poor child from learning their best in school.

Since last year 2010, HHDL SEA Teaching has collaborated with Tibetan Children village in bringing more awareness and encourages participants bringing unused clothing, books and stationery for these children. Some even bought new stationery for the children. Our objectives is simple, practise what we have learnt, Compassion and Generosity. We are asking for your contributions while attending the teaching for Tibetan Children Village (TCV) in Ladakh, India this year again. Do kindly ensure that the items are clean and in good conditions.

There will be a collection counter set up at the registration area, and upon consolidation of the donated items, we will send them to TCV.

If you wish to make monetary contribution, a donation box will be placed at the registration area.

The entire monetary donation we receive will be funded for the following projects;

  • Sponsorship to children who are in need of financial support for their education and living expenses
  • Financial support for the aged, handicapped and mentally retarded.
  • Building classrooms
  • Building Hostels or Dorms and other needs for the children who are staying on campus.
We encourage your kind donations. Every donation, however small it is, goes a long way in making a GREAT difference in the lives of the children and aged of TCV Ladakh. For more details, please visit http://www.tcv.org.in/tcvladakh.shtml. Thank you.
