Biography of Geshe Dorji Damdul


Geshe Dorji Damdul did his schooling in TCV School, Dharamsala with main interest in Physics and Mathematics. In 1988, soon after his high school in Science stream, he joined the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamsala for formal studies in Buddhist logic, philosophy and epistemology. After 15 years of study in Buddhist philosophy he finished his Geshe Lharampa Degree in 2002 from Drepung Loseling Monastery. He joined Gyudmed Tantric College for a year for Tantric studies.

In 2003, the Office of H.H. the Dalai Lama sent him to Cambridge University, England for English studies. He was a visiting fellow in Girton College, Cambridge University. In 2004 -05, he served as the philosophy lecturer for the whole semester for Emory University Study Abroad program held in Dharamsala, India.

He was appointed as the official translator to H.H. the Dalai Lama in 2005. In 2008, he was appointed as a visiting fellow in Delhi University to give lectures in three of the University's departments - Philosophy, Psychology, and Buddhist Studies.

Presently, while assigned with the same task of translating for H.H. the Dalai Lama inside and abroad India, he is serving as the Director of Tibet House, Cultural Center of H.H. the Dalai Lama, New Delhi. He gives lectures and leads philosophy classes and meditation retreats in Tibet House, Delhi University, Tibetan Youth Hostel and so forth. He also travels widely in India and abroad, like Mumbai, Bangalore, USA and so forth to teach Buddhist philosophy and practice.

阿旺格西的簡介 ( Biography of Geshe Ngawang Nyandak )


一九七一年三月十五日出生在西藏巴塘, 念完當地高中後, 就十七歲那年,因緣成熟,經過二個月長途爬山涉水,終於抵達印度,見到久仰的尊者法王達賴喇嘛。

經由法王慈悲安排,進入印度北部達南薩拉的辯經學院就學。在辯經學院院長洛桑嘉措及現任丹確院長的用心栽培下,圓滿學完了《攝類學》、《心類學》、《因明學》、《現觀莊嚴論》、《入中論》、《俱舍論》、《釋量論》、《律學》及《四部宗義》等課程『共用十五年』。

2000年,西藏政府特別派遣我到台灣作交換學生,進入法光佛教文化研究所,經過四年的攻讀,在2005年七月以中文撰著了《佛教的科學--心類學之探微》一書而取得碩土學位。

在法王慈悲關照下,加上恩師旦確院長及哲洛色林主持等諸高僧的恩賜與鼓勵,將在2005年12月正式格西座床儀式及典禮,護取措然巴格西學位。

從1992年開始到2005年,一邊學習並兼任達賴喇嘛尊者的中文翻譯, 從2005年至迄今為止正式當任中文首席翻譯並作文書工作, 現已六年之久。

Biography of Konchok Lama ( Resident Lama )


At the age of thirteen Konchok Lama was initiated into monkhood and joined Gyudmed Tantric Monastery in Gurupua Village, Hunsur-Mysore District where he received basic education on Tibetan language, reading and recitation of monastic prayers. He continued to studied most of the major Buddhist texts along with Sutra and Tantra.

In the year of 1994, Konchok Lama joined Sera Jey Monastery to enroll for the advanced Buddhist courses. In 2005, Konchok Lama passed the written and debate examination to obtain the Pharchin(Paramita)10+2 Equivalent Certificate from Sera Jey Monastic University.

In 2008, Konchok Lama obtained U-ma ( Madhyamaka ) Bachelor of Philosophy Degree from Sera Jey Monastic University. At present, Konchok Lama has reached Dul wa ( Vinaya ) stage of the monastic academic hierarchy which is the final stage of the advanced studies.

Konchok Lama who has been in Singapore since 2009 is also an astrologist. He was interested in the astrology since his early days and studied it for a number of years, with a purpose of helping people using this ancient art.
